Just got a notification from Apple Insider (Btw well timed notifications actually work!)
I think this is big news. My overall takeaways are:
▸ The mobile app business model is not done, maybe for the pure consumer but not for the prosumer.
▸ This gives the platform a better chance of becoming more mainstream like Windows and the Internet became platforms for companies like Microsoft (Office), Adobe, Amazon, Google, Facebook to build huge businesses on.
▸ This is Apple, a little cornered with slowing iPhone sales, trying to kickstart a new growth story as a services company.
▸ Mobile App Install dollars flowing from Facebook to Apple. My suspicion is that a majority of the mobile ad revenue comes from MAIs.

And I think this makes WWDC, next Monday, June 13, a must watch event. And while we are on the subject, here's an iphone app to help you keep track of events like these and watch the livestream where available.
